I’m back from a week free of internet and cell phones and holy hell I missed warm weather. Like, I need to move somewhere that doesn’t freeze for 80% of the year since EVERYTHING is so much better when it’s warm.
For one whole week my hair went perfectly curly and not greasy, my skin tanned dark brown instead of too-pale-for-my-hair-ivory, I could comfortably wear one or two layers of clothing in lots of fun colours and shapes, and walk everywhere in strappy sandals or barefoot.
It was so good while it lasted.
While on the trip I also realized it is somehow so much more satisfying to truly miss people. I haven’t traveled out of the country much since I’ve had a phone, so everyone was always a text message away. I didn’t even realize how much I missed really missing people, and how it’s so much more exciting to come back from somewhere with all kinds of things to tell them. Note to self: leave the phone at home more often.
MIDNIGHT RADIOfromHedwig & The Angry Inch by Stephen Trask
Here’s another cover I RECorded a little while ago. Been waiting to post it until today.
Believe it or not, BURNING dAN was not always the tremendously extroverted swashbuckler he eventually became. Most of his life, he was pretty shy. One of the first times I remember seeing him dress up loud was to play Sgt. Luther Robinson along with a midnight show (sorta like Rocky Horror) of Hedwig.
We celebrated his 30th birthday six and a half years ago, just me and him talking all night. I miss him. But that’s one thing about becoming a tremendously extroverted swashbuckler. He made himself real easy to recall.
This is such a great memory to have of Dan.
A great song played by a great man, happy birthday, Joe! :)
My father asked if I wanted an omelette for breakfast this morning, I said only a small one please. He proceeded to hand me half an omelette, a piece of turkey (when I try not to eat meat), and a piece of toast with butter and peanut butter on top (full of sugar; awesome). And then watch until I finished all of it. Right now he’s making giant ciabatta sandwiches for the trip to Kitchener, which are most likely filled with more meat I do not want to eat.
I’m 20, why does he feel the need to supervise every meal he possibly can?
“Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. Think only of the best, work only for the best and expect only the best. Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. Live in the faith that the whole world is on your side as long as you are true to the best that is in you.”—Christian D. Larson
(Mostly Anthropologie) Spring Wish List, 2011 edition.
I’m sorry. I can’t stop wandering back to their website.
The Cloud Art Dress - lacey and beautiful.
The Neo-Refinement Pullover - although I see they are sold out in every size except Large which is depressing. However, it looks so nice and warm and comfy.
The Jeweler’s Choice Cardigan - what can I say, I’m such a sucker for intricate beading.
The Firewing Blouse - It’s GORGEOUS. And I own the skirt that it was paired with in its promo photograph. So naturally, I need it.
The Gathering Blossoms Top - I couldn’t figure out why I liked this top so much, then I stumbled upon some photos of Megan Fox wearing a similar pattern top at an awards show and realized it looked very nice with an unexpected colour of skirt.
The Simple Compositions Blouse - Because I don’t have a decent white blouse to wear to work during the summer!
The Form & Function Blazer - (in every colour) because this may be the PERFECT one-button blazer and I just spent $50 on a different blazer this winter that does not look nearly as nice and I’m rather disappointed in it.
Pilcro Slim Straight Ankle Jeans - ankle jeans because my inseam length is 27” or 28” so these will probably touch the floor on me. And my current pair of jeans is too big and falling off my bum, which is comfy but such a hassle.
Sparring Partner Pants - I love love love the shape, but now that I think of it, they will probably be ankle pants on me instead of the beautiful calf-grazing crops they should be. Rats.
The Lightspeed Faille Skirt - I am also a sucker for beautiful draping and gathering.
The Amhara Skirt - it just looks so light and fun and summery and I love that.
The It’s In The Details Jacket - this is probably the coolest jacket I’ve seen in a very long time! It just reminds me of the 30s, and I love all the quirky little details.
